Sophisticated Romantic Bedroom

Cool lavender accents create a soothing colour palette. The weighty wood sleigh bed was replaced with an open-ended frame that makes the room feel spacious. Layered with a quilted coverlet, neutral bedding and cable-knit throw pillows, the new bed exudes comfort. Opulence introduced by the mirrored furniture and chandelier keeps it from feeling too casual. Using a three-drawer dresser in place of traditional bedside tables reduces the number of pieces needed and opens up the room.

Delicate Floral Bedside Vignette. Find creative ways to inject colour. The fabric-turned-artwork provides much-needed colour and drama. Linen fabric with an intricate nature-inspired pattern was stretched in a gallery-style floating frame to create instant custom art that feels like a historical piece.

Refined Sitting Nook. Set up a hotel-chic space to relax by the window. A small seating area for reading and other pastimes transforms the principal bedroom into a full-fledged grown-up retreat. Elegant wall-to-wall blue cotton-linen drapes can be closed to eliminate natural light in the room and provide total privacy.

Contrasting Tabletop Vignette. Mix and match different patterns for graphic appeal. The geometric trellis print on the vintage bergere chairs is understated but strong enough to pleasantly play off the striped tabletop. An eclectic mix of objects, including a sculptural wood-branch lamp, gives the seating area storied appeal.

Warm White Fireplace. Add a small electric fireplace for an instant upgrade. To warm up the chillier third floor, Cameron installed an electric fireplace as an extra heat source. The large floor mirror was relocated from another room to visually expand the space and help reflect natural light.

Golden Mantel. A deep traditional-style mantel offers ample space for layered displays. Nature-inspired accents, like the vase of fiery forsythia and small landscapes, inject unmistakable warmth into an otherwise-naked corner of the room. The arrangement of gilt frames seems to float atop the white mantel and against the creamy wall.
